Keeping Busyish...

In the life of summer sales I don't get to see Cam much. But luckily there are other wives out here that help pass the time. Besides my cake class I have...

Gone to an indoor water park in Erie PA with Megan

Met up with my sis-in-laws in Pitt for lunch

Gone to the Columbus OH Temple with Megan and Jessica

And various birthday lunches with the girls in our office. (I always forget to take a pic though)

This weekend we are going down to the Pitt Office on Sunday to see the rest of Cam's family. It will be nice to see everyone! And of course, Max will get to see his girlfriend Journee!! He has been pretty bored here with just me.

Cake-O-Licious

I have been taking a Wilton Cake decorating class at the JoAnns by us. I have played with piping and different tips, but have always wanted to take a class to learn technique! And I finally had a reason to by all the decorating tips and actually know what I am supposed to do with each one!!

The first week we mainly learned about making icing, preparing our supplies, and the nitty gritty stuff. Then, we practiced the basic star tip on some cookies....

Our second week we had to make a cake, tort it, ice it, and decorate it. I made a carrot cake and thought cream cheese frosting would be yummy. I found a recipe for Wilton Cream Cheese and thought it would work - it was pretty soft, so I had to make do with what I had.

This week we learned some different flower techniques, then practiced icing cupcakes! I was really excited to learn how to swirl cupcakes!! We also learned how to fill cupcakes. I probably could use some practice. When I finally cut into one of mine, it was pretty skimpy on the filling.

Next week we are making a another cake and learning to do the roses...we will see how they turn out!

Hoppy Easter

Usually when Easter is earlier in the year, Camron and I are either: 1. just about to leave for the summer 2. Driving out to our area or 3. Just arrived to our area on Easter. So usually we don't get too creative. This year I Dyed Easter Eggs with some of the girls. I also baked a Spiral Cut ham for the first time....and it was YUMMY!

Our ward here is TINY. Probably one of the smallest ones we have been to in the summer months. The primary kids sang a beautiful song and we had a great Easter Lesson!

Catching up

We have been so incredibly busy the last month and a half. Right before we left Utah, we got to go to a Jazz Game with a bunch of the guys Camron will be working with this summer. We had tickets in a box and had a ton of fun.

Then we made the long drive out east. One dead bird, one speeding ticket (Cam), one warning (Stacy), and 28 hours later, we finally made it to our destination. We will be in Ohio for a few months, then move down to Pittsburgh for the rest of the summer. The first night we got here, we pulled in really late. We just picked a hotel and took Max upstairs. The next day our apartment wasn't ready, and we also found out our hotel didn't allow dogs. Needless to say, we were bad and just sneaked Max in. He wasn't a big fan of it.....as you can see!

Our apartment doesn't have a deck or patio, so I pushed the couch over to the window so Max could see out!! He loves his little perch. He can sit and watch for squirrels!

Well, now that things will slow down quite a bit...maybe I will be better at updating my blog the next few months

Eternal Families

The last few weeks have been difficult and emotional. My Grandpa Forbes's health has been slowly declining the last few months - the last month especially. I have been to see him a few times in the last month and each time he looked more fragile. A week and a half ago, he fell and hit his head. It took them over a day to convince him to let them take him to the hospital. He had bleeding on his brain. With all of his other health complications right now, he wasn't able to make a full recovery.

Last Monday they decided to let him return to his own home with home health care and hospice services. I was able to be there when he got home and have a few special moments with him. Then on Wednesday night he passed away.

My lesson I taught in church on Sunday was on Eternal Families. Our Young Women activity on Tuesday was on Temples. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have that families can be together forever. My Grandpa and Grandma Forbes are such special people. I am so grateful they have been part of my life.

I will miss hearing my Grandpa's stories. I will miss his endless teasing. He was such a kind and gentle man. He will be greatly missed. We love him so much.

His obituary and a beautiful photo of him are available here

Weekend Get-a-Way

I feel like we haven't done much lately, but I feel like we are always busy. This last weekend we were able to get a way for a quick weekend. Camron was going to Las Vegas to go to the UFC fight, and I went down and went shopping! We loved the warmer weather and staying in the new Vdara Hotel.

Here are some other random pictures from the last month or so...
